Guangqi Honda Automobile Co., Ltd was established on July 1st, 1998, by Guangzhou Automobile Group and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. with 50:50 investment proportion for a period of 30 years.
The company currently has two plants, covering a land area of approximately 1.93 million square meters, and employs beyond 7,000 staffs. So far it is holding 6 brands of cars: Crosstour, Accord, Odyssey, FIT, CITY and EVERUS S1.

In June, 2000, Guangqi Honda passed the ISO9002 Quality System certification. In October, 2001, Guangqi Honda passed the certification of the ISO14001 Environment Management System. In January, 2005, Guangqi Honda passed the certification of ISO18000 Occupational Health and Safety Management System. Production Capacity Guangqi Honda kept on developing rapidly in accordance with "less input, faster output, and rolling development" mode. To satisfy the growing customers’ demands, Guangqi Honda has been extending its production-line in step with the market. After attaining the capacity of 30,000 cars/year, 60,000 cars/year and 120,000 cars/year, finally at the beginning of 2004, Guangqi Honda started a new period of producing 240,000 cars per year, and 1,000 cars per day. In November, 2004, the 2nd plant laid a foundation in Xintang, Zengcheng City, near Guangzhou. The company invested RMB 2.2 billion in the first phase development of the plant, which enabled a beginning production capacity of 120,000 cars per year. With the 2nd plant going into operation in late 2006, Guangqi Honda will greatly improve supply speed and satisfy the market demand. At that time, the annual capacity will reach 360,000 cars.
